Wiring and Final Fixing

Fitting the Transformer
The transformer from the fitting kit now needs to be connected to the charge system wiring. In the top of the rail there will be some wires and a connector block pushed into the end. Pull out these wires and join the wires from the transformer into the connector block.

Push the jointed wires and connector block back into the rail end, push the rail end cap form the fitting kit over the end of the rail.

The transformer can now be plugged into your chosen mains outlet, the charging system is now energized. The charging voltage is only 15 volts (AC) and is perfectly safe.

Fixing Down the Rail

The rail must now be fixed to the stairs. It is important that until this is done and the top ramp is finally adjusted that no-one 'rides' the stair lift. It may fall and cause a very serious injury.

Visually check that the rail is parallel to the adjacent wall, and looking up the stairs, behind the seat that the stair lift will not catch the wall on the way up. Also check that there are no obstructions such as windowsills. There should be approximately ? inch between seat back and the wall.

Once checked and final position verified, screw the rail brackets down to the stairs using the wood screws provided. We advise that you should use all 16 screws. Leaving any out may compromise the safety of the installation.

Fixing Bottom Safety Edge for Carriage

Locate the two threaded holes on the lower side of the carriage on the bottom sprung plate. Screw in the 2 'standoff' screws. Then attach the bottom safety edge to these 'standoffs' using the plastic screws provided.

Setting the Top Stopping Position

The black upper 'limit stop' ramp needs to be re-fitted and adjusted. Locate the 'limit stop' back onto the rail, ensuring that the guide on the rail is located on the ridge on the top track surface. Tighten the screw into the slot on the limit ramp, with it set in the lowest position (closest to the downstairs).

Refit the red battery isolator plug and drive the stair lift to the top of the stairs. It will stop on the limit ramp. For correct positioning the footrest of the stair lift should be level with the top landing. If it is not, move the stair lift back down the stairs a little way, and raise the limit stop by loosening the screw and sliding the ramp upwards. Tighten down and test the position as before. Repeat as necessary, until the stair lift stops in the correct position.

Remote Controls

Local building codes may require that remote call stations be fixed to the wall. We have supplied wall mounting brackets which can be fixed to the wall to hold the remote controls in place. The holders should be placed on the wall that the stair lift is adjacent to, to ensure that the infa-red signal can 'see' the stair lift. The signal can 'bounce', but will not travel around corners.

Your stair lift installation is now complete, but you must go through the final checks to ensure it is safe to operate.
